02.09.17Sara Writes New "Beauty and the Beast" Premiering on the Disney Cruise Line Nov, 2017

A tale as old as time gets ready to take the stage with "Beauty and the Beast," a brand-new musical production inspired by Disney's live-action adaptation of the animated classic. "Beauty and the Beast" will bring the timeless fable to life like never before, featuring a style of theater that interlaces classic storytelling elements with cutting-edge technology, to create a unique, theatrical experience in the 1,340-seat Walt Disney Theatre. An innovative take on the story will transform renowned songs into spectacular, show-stopping numbers, and lavish costumes and puppetry will bring a fresh perspective to beloved characters.

Drawing inspiration from the live-action film, the stage musical uses the scenic motif of a music box to guide spectators through the story. Set designer, Jason Sherwood ("Paint Your Wagon," "Frozen, A Musical Spectacular"), worked in concert with video designer, Aaron Rhyne ("Frozen, A Musical Spectacular," Broadway's "Anastasia"), to create a transforming set that will take audiences on a magical journey through the music box, from Belle's provincial French town to the Beast's mysterious castle.

To bring "Beauty and the Beast" to the stage, Disney assembled an all-star creative team, led by director and choreographer Connor Gallagher ("Tangled: The Musical," "Found"). Gallagher collaborated with writer Sara Wordsworth ("Frozen, A Musical Spectacular," Broadway's "In Transit") and a talented collection of Broadway artists to create an imaginative, new approach to this iconic story.

10.06.10Variety Reviews IN TRANSIT

"Theatergoers who turn pale at the thought of a musical performed a cappella can breathe easy at"In Transit," an unconventional, unorthodox and unassuming new Off Broadway musical that should increase subway ridership to East 59th. This seven-person, zero-musician musical is a charming slice-of-life beneath city streets, and considering the evening's high likability rating and relatively low budget -- a fully satisfying show with live music but no musician costs -- this is a likely prospect to transfer." (Click link for full review)

10.06.10The Associated Press Reviews IN TRANSIT

"An energetic new musical comedy, "In Transit," has taken the underground rhythms of the city, set them to poetry and song, and enlivened them with touching stories about relationships formed by average commuters. That is, if average commuters could beautifully sing a capella together. The remarkable musical poetry is enthusiastically sung by a captivating ensemble, who bring emotional realism to their urban stereotypes. Claustrophobes, fear not; the personable commuters are shown above ground, too, in this rafters-ringing, off-Broadway production by Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters..."(Click link for full review)

A World Premiere musical by Kristen Anderson-Lopez, James-Allen Ford, Russ Kaplan and Sara Wordsworth

Based on an original concept created by Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Gregory T. Christopher, James-Allen Ford, Russ Kaplan, Karla Lant, and Sara Wordsworth
Directed by Joe Calarco

In this fresh take on the modern musical, seven performers take on multiple roles and create every note with their own voices for a rich theatrical experience unlike anything you've ever seen (or heard) on stage before. Inspired by the rhythms and sounds of life on the subway, In Transit follows an aspiring actress, a fledgling financier, a street-savvy beatboxer, a cab driver, and others as they find their way in New York City. The result is a vivid tapestry of characters and music in the City that never stands still.

In Transit is a recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New American Plays award.
