Sara Wordsworth is a New York City-based musical theatre lyricist, librettist, writer, performer, and teaching artist. Her work in New York theatre has been nominated for Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, Off Broadway Alliance & Lucille Lortel Awards. She is the recipient of the BMI Jerry Harrington Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Musical Theatre (Librettist) and the Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award.

Writing credits include Broadway's First A Cappella Musical, IN TRANSIT (Circle in the Square; opening night 12.10.16, Off Broadway at Primary Stages, O’Neill National Music Theatre Conference), adaptations of FROZEN and BEAUTY and THE BEAST for the Disney Cruise Line, the commissioned family musical DEAR ALBERT EINSTEIN (Off Broadway at New York City Children's Theatre; Dramatic Publishing), and original songs for the musical play HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL (Primary Stages, Dramatic Publishing). She has also written for various regional theaters, venues, educational institutions, publications, and charities, and has been a consultant for major entertainment organizations worldwide. Upcoming projects include a Broadway JR/KIDS adaptation (Disney Theatrical/MTI) and the new indie rock musical, THE CLEARWATERS. Recordings include co-producing the IN TRANSIT Original Broadway Cast Album (Hollywood Records/Disney Music Group), the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop CD "No More Revivals" and "Over the Moon: a Broadway Lullaby Album."

As a vocalist, performances include work with the Roundabout Theatre Company, Walt Disney Animation Studios (Feature Film FROZEN), Disney Creative Entertainment, Off-Broadway’s York Theatre, Clear Channel Entertainment, Chautauqua Opera, Seaside Music Theatre, the NYC Fringe Festival, the NY Musical Theatre Festival, Key City Public Theatre, New Dramatists, Caroline’s Comedy Club on Broadway, Peccadillo Theatre Company, ASCAP, BMI, Chatham Playhouse, Arizona Records, and Theatreworks/USA. She has also been a featured soloist at many notable NYC venues including Lincoln Center Jazz, Symphony Space, Merkin Hall, 54Below, The Century Center, Rockefeller Center, and on nationally syndicated XM/Sirius Radio.

Her vocals can also be heard on the soundtracks of Disney's FROZEN and FINDING NEMO THE MUSICAL, as well as on the IN TRANSIT Broadway Original Cast Album (Hollywood Records).

Sara has served as a teaching artist for several colleges and universities, a consultant for the New Jersey State Board of Education’s Arts Curriculum Development Committee, and was a writer’s assistant for Good Morning America as well as a freelance field reporter for The Gayle King Show. She also coaches (privately and in a group setting) NYC Survival Skills for Artists, Lyric/Book Writing, and Audition Prep/Song Interpretation.

Sara is an honors graduate of Fordham University, the College at Lincoln Center. She sits on the Steering Committee for the Tony-Honored BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Writing Workshop and is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association, The Dramatists Guild of America, Inc., and is a BMI Affiliate Artist. Sara hails from southern New Jersey, and currently lives in New York City with her young daughter and husband, singer/actor James Wordsworth.
